1. Search engines
and keywords
A web site is worthless if no one can find it. The
most common way of finding a web site is by means of
search engines. If you are wanting to attract clients,
especially international clients, ranking in the search
engines is vital.
allinurl:yoursite.co.za/
You can also use
the allinurl command to find pages within a particular
section of a web site. Be sure to omit the http://
prefix.
site:yoursite.co.za
travel
would bring up
all (or nearly all) of the pages Google lists from
Yoursite, if the owner of Yoursite had a footer on
all the pages that has the word "travel"
in it. You must use the site command in combination
with a search term. It will not work, otherwise.
Addresses of search engines where
you can submit your web site for free.
Please remember, your site must have optimized pages
before your submit them to the search engines.
Here's a tool to automatically
submit your site to a number of search engines.
Please remember, your site must have optimized pages
before your submit them
to the search engines.
Using keywords is more than choosing
the words clients will use to find your web site.
The order of keywords in a META
tag can make a difference in the ranking.
Always lead with your most important words.
Repeating your META tag keywords
alongside each other causes the ranking to go down.
Omitting commas between keywords
in the META tag can make the order of the keywords
of less importance.
Too many keywords in a META tag
can "dilute" the value of your most important
keywords, so don't use too many keywords on the web
pages that you especially want to rank high for a
particular keyword or key phrase.
Keyword META tags are not silver
bullets. Much more important is the presence of those
keywords or key phrases in strategic locations in
the web page. Search engines are looking for a "theme,"
so for best results use an important keyword in the
title, body copy, headline, and an activated link,
as well as in the keyword META tag.
Download "God

. You can find out what keywords have been searched
in Overture US and Overture UK.. Good Keywords has
