21 day tour - South Africa and Swaziland
Self drive or Guided Tour
Day
1: On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, a representative
of Prima Luce Tours will meet and transfer you to your accommodation
for the night. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Overnight: Sandton
Day 2: Drive to Pretoria,
South Africa's administrative capital. Enjoy a city tour including
the Voortrekker Monument and Museum and Paul Kruger's House. Travel
to the town of Cullinan for lunch followed by a tour of the famous
diamond mine. Return to Pretoria for dinner and a cultural presentation.

Day 3: After an early
start, drive via Dullstroom and Lydenburg to Pilgrim's Rest for lunch.
Continue along the dramatic Eastern Escarpment of the Drakensberg
("Dragon Mountains"). Visit Bourke's Luck Potholes and
the Blyde River Canyon for a magnificent view of the Blydepoort Dam
and the Three Rondavels. Arrive at your overnight accommodation in
time for a game drive, followed by a traditional African dinner.

Day 4: Take an early morning bush
walk, followed by a leisurely breakfast. This morning we will visit
the Moholoholo Wildlife Centre and learn about its rehabilitation
programme. Enjoy an evening game drive and dinner under the stars.
Lunch at leisure.

Day
5: Take an early morning game drive and bush
walk. The remainder of the day is spent relaxing in
the African bush. Following afternoon tea, take an evening
drive in search of the Big Five. Return to the lodge
for dinner.

Day 6: After an early
morning game drive or bush walk, followed by breakfast. Visit the
Hoedspruit Research and Breeding Centre for Endangered Species. After
lunch, transfer to our private game lodge in time for a game drive
in search of more of Africa's unique wildlife.

Day
7: This morning we enter Kruger National Park, South Africa's
largest national park. Spend the day in search of the great variety
of wildlife that Kruger has to offer. An optional night drive is
available.

Day 8: Search for
wildlife as we leave Kruger National Park. Enter Swaziland at the
Jeppes Reef Border Post. Overnight is in the picturesque highlands
of the Kingdom.

Day 9: Explore Swaziland
today, also visiting the Ngwenya Glass Factory, craft markets and
a cultural village. Our accommodation tonight is in the beautiful
Ezulwini Valley.

Day 10: Continue through
Swaziland stopping at the Swazi Candle Factory. Re-enter South Africa
at the border post of Golela and proceed through KwaZulu-Natal to
our lodge in KZN.

Day
11: This morning, enjoy a river cruise at St. Lucia. Spend
the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 12: Continue on
to Durban for a tour of the city and surrounding area. A visit to
uShaka is well worthwhile.

Day 13: This morning,
fly to Port Elizabeth and travel along the "Garden Route"
visiting Storms River and Plettenberg Bay en route. Arrive in Knysna
for an afternoon at leisure followed by a sundowner cruise.

14: Enjoy a leisurely day exploring the Garden
Route. Also visit the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex
and History Centre in Mossel Bay. Accommodation this
evening will be in the Mossel Bay area, well known for
its natural beauty.

Day 15: Drive to Oudtshoorn
for a tour of an ostrich farm after which lunch will be provided.
In the afternoon, visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch where you can interact
with its cheetahs.

Day 16: Drive the
scenic "Three Passes" route with lunch provided along the
way. Cross over one of the most beautiful of all South Africa's mountain
passes - The Swartberg Pass. Also tour the magnificent Cango Caves.
Return to Oudtshoorn for an evening braai (optional).

Day 17: Today we travel
via Route 62 through the Little Karoo. Pass through the orchard villages
of Ladysmith and Barrydale and arrive in the afternoon at the Cape
winelands. Overnight will be at a wine estate in the Stellenbosch
area.

Day
18: Tour a winery, sampling some of the great
wines for which this area is famous. Drive to Cape Town
and ride the cable car to the top of Table Mountain.
Tour the city and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Accommodation for the next three nights is on Cape Town's
historic Waterfront. Cape Town is famous for its fine
restaurants and tonight we will dine at one of these.

Day 19: The morning
and early afternoon are at leisure. Explore the Victoria and Alfred
Waterfront. The nearby Two-Oceans Aquarium is well worth a visit.
An optional tour of Robben Island is available. Weather permitting,
we will cruise offshore on an ocean-going catamaran and have dinner
on board.
Overnight: Cape Town BB
Day
20: Drive to the Cape of Good Hope National Park
via St. James, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and the African Penguin
colony at Boulders Beach. Enjoy lunch at Cape Point
before returning to Cape Town. For dinner tonight, we
will sample food from many different African cultures.
Overnight: Cape Town BB
Day 21: Visit the
Castle of Good Hope this morning. After lunch, relax, finish packing
and transfer to Cape Town International Airport for the flight home.
